Canadian College Rodeo Association action

I was fortunate enough to experience my first ever Saskatchewan Canadian College Rodeo Association in Delisle Sept 16th of this year. It was great to see all the competitors from across the country participating in the great sport of rodeo. Even with the out of this world fuel prices pulling into the event one could not help notice the small city of horse trailers. I have to admit to being to a few rodeos in my life but could not help but be impressed with the caliber of contestants and the stock as well supplied by CS Bucking Bulls, Kyle, Saskatchewan.

The whole event was well organized and professionally presented thanks in part to an excellent rodeo announcer Doug Young. When Doug is on the mic you just can’t help but know you’re at a rodeo. The Canadian Collegiate Rodeo Association, is a non-profit rodeo association that pertains to Canadian Post Secondary Education Students. Although the host University of Saskatchewan College Rodeo association is part of a National Association, the majority of our rodeos are held throughout the Province of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and B.C. The association boast approximately a 200-person membership and 7 different rodeo teams competing in 8 to 10 rodeos a year with the finals sometime in May.

The rodeo ran later into the evening with the September light running out for us still photographers even under the lights so my images may not be plentiful and top notch but would like to share them with you …. Enjoy.

A lot of work goes in behind the actual rodeo, the rodeo ground has to be worked and stable for the contestants and their animals to prevent injuries. Shane Kemp’s professianal grooming set up gets the job done.
